Nonlinear Echo Cancellation of Data Signals
نویسندگان
چکیده
This paper describes a new technique for implementing an echo canceller for full-duplex data transmission (such as in digital subscriber loops and voiceband data sets). The canceller can operate in spite of time-invariant nonlinearities in the echo channel or in the implementation of the echo canceller itself (such as in the D/A converters). The basic structure of the linear echo canceller is not changed, but taps are simply added to account for the nonlinearity. The number of taps which must be added depends on the degree of nonlinearity which must be compensated. Numerical results based on computer simulation are given which show that typical nonlinearities encountered in MOS D/A converters can be compensated by a relatively small number of taps added to the linear echo canceller, and substantial improvement in the cancellation results.

Nonlinear echo cancellation using a correlation LMS adaptation scheme
Adaptive algorithms have been widely used to reduce or cancel undesired echo signals in acoustic communication systems. In particular, in a double-talk scenario, fluctuations in the estimation of echo path parameters and nonlinear distortion in a hybrid system may result in significant performance degradation. In this paper, the use of nonlinear echo cancellation via a correlation RLS (CRLS) al...
متن کاملNonlinear Echo Cancellation for Hands-free Speakerphones
Nonlinearities in the amplifier and loudspeaker of hands-free speakerphones limit the performance of linear adaptive acoustic echo cancellers, necessitating the use of nonlinear cancellation schemes. A nonlinear acoustic echo canceller based on the WienerHammerstein model structure of a cascade of linear, memoryless nonlinear, and linear elements is proposed. By modeling the true structure of t...
متن کاملAdaptive filtering for non-Gaussian processes
A new stochastic gradient robust filtering method, based on a non-linear amplitude transformation, is proposed. The method requires no a priori knowledge of the characteristics of the input signals and it is insensitive to the signals distribution and to the stationarity of the signals. A simulation study, applying both synthetic and realworld signals, shows that the proposed method has overall...
متن کاملDNN-based residual echo suppression
Due to the limitations of power amplifiers or loudspeakers, the echo signals captured in the microphones are not in a linear relationship with the far-end signals even when the echo path is perfectly linear. The nonlinear components of the echo cannot be successfully removed by a linear acoustic echo canceller. Residual echo suppression (RES) is a technique to suppress the remained echo after a...
متن کاملNew insights into the stereophonic acoustic echo cancellation problem and an adaptive nonlinearity solution
In this paper, we expand the knowledge regarding the problems of two-channel (or stereophonic) echo cancellation. The major difference between two-channel and the single-channel echo cancellation is the problem of nonunique solutions in the twochannel case. In previous work, this nonuniqueness problem has been linked to the coherence between the two incoming audio channels. One proven solution ...
